In war, the first rule is to know your enemy. Every general asks: "who is my foe?" So, in the era of communication, we should ask: "what is spyware?"
No! Not viruses! The new threat is here, maybe stalling inside your system, even as you read this, waiting for a chance...not to attack, but to steal information.
This now household word is computer software that is intended to run undetected, to scan important information entries and to report them to their creators, without the users' knowledge or consent.
Truthfully, spyware could collect any type of information. Every keystroke and every website you visit can be collected, stored and sent to its creators.

Thankfully, spyware can be slowed down, stopped and in most cases prevented thanks to special software designed to combat this threat.
Of course you could always remove spyware manually but you would need to know a great deal about your computer and the software on it. Not to mention have several days to weeks of time available to find and remove everything.
